New WIC COORDINATOR
Target Audience:
This course is specifically designed for new state and local agency staff working in a management capacity within the
WIC program.
Course Length: One face-to-face day and approximately 3 - 4 hours to complete the web based curriculum.
Course Description:
This training will provide a comprehensive view of the role of the WIC Coordinator. The course includes: development of WIC clinic
schedules, WIC budgets, caseload management, vendor management, reports, outreach, and other management functions.
Performance Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

Identify federal & state WIC program requirements for Administration, Food Delivery Systems, Certification Standards, Nutrition Education and Supplemental Foods

Identify the components of the WIC Program Quality Review (WIC Management Evaluation/Quality Assurance) tool

Describe how to utilize WIC reports for caseload management, nutrition education, breastfeeding rates and quality assurance

Describe the WIC Coordinator responsibilities for the program services provided at the local agency level

Web based Training Modules
After registering, the web modules may be viewed at any time but must be completed at least 1 week before attending the face-to-face portion of the curriculum. If you have questions after viewing the web modules, please email those questions to your Regional Nutritionist Consultant prior to the face-to-face- training.
Face-to-Face Training
Class Time: 9 AM to 4:00 PM
The one day face-to-face portion of the training will be conducted at the regional level by the WIC Regional Nutritionist Consultants. Please contact your Regional Nutritionist Consultant for specific information on location and time of training as well as the materials list.
